We know the drill… it’s Christmas Day, Buddy the Christmas Elf has worn out his welcome, the excitement of unwrapping presents has faded, and the sugar rush has finally settled. Suddenly you’re wondering:
What do we actually DO with the kids now?
If you’re hosting a family gathering, a neighbourhood Christmas party, or just trying to keep little ones busy at home, these screen-free Christmas activities for kids will keep them laughing, creating, and having an unforgettable day.
At Yabadoo, we believe Christmas should be full of joy — where kids are busy having fun, not wrestling over the last candy cane, and the grown-ups can kick back with a glass of bubbles and a snack platter.
Below are some of our favourite festive games and Christmas party ideas for children across Australia.

From interactive festive games to Christmas crafts, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite Christmas party ideas for children across Australia.
1. The Golden Kangaroo Hunt
Move over Christmas pickle!
Hide a few golden kangaroos (or other Aussie animals) in the tree.
To make it trickier, fill the tree with gold ornaments and tinsel so they blend in.
Each kangaroo = one chocolate coin.
This is chaotic, competitive, and VERY fun.

2. Pin the Nose on Rudolph
Print a reindeer, blindfold the kids, spin them gently and let the giggles begin.
This old-school Christmas party favourite never fails.
This is chaotic, competitive, and VERY fun.
3. Holiday Scavenger Bingo
Why not download our free Aussie style Christmas scavenger hunt Think tinsel,Eski, sunblock, the Christmas elf, and Christmas crackers. Kids mark them off on their Bingo cards — first to complete a row wins.
4. Guess the Number of Lollies
A simple Christmas activity for all ages.
Fill jars with festive red and green lollies and let everyone guess.

5. The Wrapping Challenge (Chaotic & Hilarious)
Give each child a pair of oven mitts and leftover wrapping materials.
Their mission? Wrap the box as neatly (or creatively!) as possible… with mitts on.
6. Candy Cane Hunt
Just like an Easter egg hunt, but more minty.
Hide candy canes around the house or garden and let kids fill stockings as they search.
Yabadoo trick: pop them standing up around the garden for “home grown” candy canes

7. Christmas Cupcake Decorating
Set up a decorating station with:
• sprinkles
• frosting
• marshmallows
• smarties
• pretzels
• pocky sticks
Kids build snowmen, reindeer, or Christmas trees — then eat their masterpieces.
8. Baby Photo Guessing Game
Collect baby photos from each guest and stick them up with numbers.
Kids (and adults!) guess who’s who.
This sparks so many laughs — and cute conversations.

9. Summer-Friendly Mocktail Challenge
Let kids mix juices, soda water, and fruit slices.
They can name their drinks:
• Rudolph’s Ribena Punch
• Tropical Tinsel Fizz
• Bubbles the Christmas Elf
Taste testers choose the winner!
10. Christmas Movie Trivia
The only bit of acceptable Christmas screentime.
Test everyone’s knowledge on:
Home Alone, The Grinch, Elf, Arthur Christmas…
Quick, funny, and perfect for all ages.

Optional Extras for Christmas Activities
Glitter tattoos: kids love adding some festive glitz to their Christmas Day ensemble!
Christmas Craft stations: If you’re up to it, gather some recyclables, stickers, textas, ribbons and even candy wrappers and let the kids wind down with some Christmas colouring-in, and crafts like DIY gift tag making!
